When asked about the diameter for stump grinding estimates, this is the proper way to measure if you are asking for an estimate over the phone. The best way is to have someone come out to look and give you a price but if that's not possible, measure the distance in this manner. Make sure you specify stump grinding, root flare and surface roots or if you have a special reason for grinding the stump (planting a new tree, excavating area, pouring cement, etc.) All these things can affect the price for the service and it just keeps everyone on the same page with expectations of service. If you simply say "stump grinding" but you meant to say "stump grinding including root flare and surface roots", you might be unhappy with the services you receive.

The homeowner was not home at the time but luckily arrive home before someone was hurt. They immediately asked the contractor to leave their property. Using ladders or scaffolding to take a tree down is just asking for trouble.
